APRC and GGE-EA, acknowledging the essential role of effective regulatory frameworks in achieving sustainable development, have expressed their commitment to establishing a collaborative partnership.

This initiative aims to enhance policies and regulatory mechanisms across energy access sectors to promote south-south cooperation, carry out research and other implementation programs with resilience. By working together, APRC and GGE-EA seek to drive innovative solutions and best practices that support socioeconomic growth and address the unique challenges faced by Asia Pacific & Africa nations, ultimately contributing to a more sustainable and equitable future for the regions.

MOU Objectives

The Parties agree as follows:

  1. Sharing Experiences Coordinate platform for exchange of knowledge and development of best practices for regulated electricity in our continent.
  2. Enhance Capacity Building Jointly design and deliver training programs, workshops, and resources aimed at strengthening the skills and expertise of local regulators and policymakers.
  3. Implement a Capacity Building and Knowledge Exchange Program Develop a structured program for knowledge exchange that includes mentorship, peer-topeer learning, and best practice sharing to empower regulators and enhance their capabilities in addressing complex regulatory challenges.
  4. Strengthen Stakeholder Engagement Establish collaborative platforms for dialogue among government agencies, industry leaders, civil society, and academia to promote inclusive participation in regulatory processes and decision-making.
  5. Advance Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Work together to align regulatory practices with relevant SDGs, focusing on initiatives that promote environmental sustainability, social equity, and economic growth in our region.
